US Marshals Help Arrest Fugitive Wanted For Murder In Virginia

A fugitive wanted for his role in a Camden homicide has been captured in Virginia, authorities said.

Michael Allen, 19, of Collingswood, was taken into custody by members of the U.S. Marshals Service Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force from Norfolk, VA,  Thursday at a residence in Newport News, Virginia, Acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill Mayer and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez said.

Allen was charged on Oct. 29 with first-degree murder in the death of 28-year-old Lamont Demby of Camden.

Demby was fatally shot in the area of Jackson Street and Warsaw Street at 3:21 p.m. on Oct. 22. He was transported to Cooper University Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries at 4:11 p.m.

Allen is currently being held in Virginia and is awaiting extradition to New Jersey.
